A lighter slate of links this month as I was traveling extensively and also trying to spend some time away from screens.

• CRYPTO 2026 Opens Today: AI Systems Are Now Both Tool and Target of Math Attacks -- This article gives a nice overview of the highlights of one of the events I traveled to this month: CRYPTO 2026. Of particular interest to me was (potential) new attacks against proposed post-quantum cryptography schemes and the use of AI in a field that until recently has felt both untouched and largely allergic to the technology.
• Apex Launches Prediction Markets Platform Powered by Kalshi -- Apex, one of the largest institutional FinTech providers, is launching a PM platform, citing increased interest from the wealth management front. I am skeptical that this product category will actually be heavily utilized by the wealth management folks, but it is a strange world we now inhabit.
• Court rules Kalshi sports bets aren’t “swaps,” just gambling with a different name -- In less bullish news from the prediction market space, a federal appeals court ruled that Kalshi's sports markets are in fact just sports gambling, opening the possibility for them to be regulated by the states. Selfishly, I am disappointed with this ruling, but logically I find it hard to disagree.
